What are the NHS Prescription Charges?

These charges apply in England only. In Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales prescriptions are free of charge.

  • Prescription (per item): £8.60
  • 12-month prepayment certificate (PPC): £104.00
  • 3-month PPC: £29.10

If you will have to pay for four or more prescription items in three months, or more than 15 items in 12 months, you may find it cheaper to buy a PPC.

There is further information about prescription exemptions and fees on the NHS website.

How do I order a repeat prescription?

New Prescription Ordering Direct (POD) service: 01782 276960

To try and help with your prescription ordering, we have developed a telephone Prescription Ordering Direct (POD) line. This line will only be for ordering your medication and is not for chasing a prescription or medication queries- please contact your local pharmacy or the surgery for this.

POD service line will go live from Monday 15 June 2020.

The service can take requests for repeat prescriptions and will aim to replace paper repeat slips. If you order on-line (using patient access), please keep on doing this.

The POD number is 01782 276960 and is available from 8.30-4.30pm Monday to Friday.

Repeat Prescribing Services

Our local pharmacists do run a collection service for repeat prescriptions. If you are interested in doing this you will need to speak to the Pharmacist of your choice to make these arrangements.
